Why you should invest in your Jiu Jitsu.

There are various ways of investing in yourself, and they don’t all cost money.

You can invest time. If you invest more time into your training, you’ll reap rewards. One extra hour per week can naturally have a huge benefit. You can also invest chunks of time- “I’ll do this next 4 weeks intensely and measure my progress at the end.”

You can invest energy. That sounds like it’s a little harder to quantify, and it is I suppose, but if you did something like beginning to take notes of your techniques after class, or made a resolution to “Improve my takedowns” for a month, and directed more energy towards that, that’s an investment.

And you can invest money. You can’t buy skill, but you can get direction from someone with private lessons for example. This is often a good investment if you’re looking to improve quickly. Classes necessarily deal with the broad needs of about 25 people, whereas one to one attention is specific to your needs.

And you can invest all 3 at once, which is what next week’s camp is all about. Doing all 3 at once is when you do a training camp or seminar. You take time out, focus your energy, and yeah, spend a bit of money.

The idea from each of these is that you get a return on your investment. My personal experience with investments like the above is always positive. Whenever I make a goal and choose to invest, I get the reward of improvement.

I’m looking forward to getting to the camp next week and seeing everyone there too! Fellipe Andrew is one of the best around and we’ve always got so much from his visits.

See you on the mat!
