Kyuzo for LauraLynn
Every year, we do something for Charity at Christmas. LauraLynn is one we've helped before with our cold water swims, but this year we thought we'd try to involve everyone in the club in some way. After all, it's difficult to convince a 7 year old of the benefits of morning swimming in December.
So we came up with 2 ideas, a Pyjama Day for Kids, and the John Wick roll for adults.
Jiu Jitsu in Pyjamas
Wait, don't you guys always train in pyjamas?

Well, yeah, sort of, but we encouraged the Kids to come in their Christmas jammies for the last day of classes. The parents and kids could contribute what they wanted (and everyone was really generous), and the club would donate €2 for every kid who wore their PJs. we actually don't know how many kids came (we were in party mode too), but we've made an overestimate of 90 kids. So that's €180 going into the pot form Kyuzo. We also counted about €230 in cash on the day from Mams and Dads. Thanks!

The John Wick Jiu Jitsu Session
The John Wick movies and Keanu's Jiu Jitsu moves were the inspiration for our other iniative. Everyone donned their suits (or the best gear they were willing to sacrifice) and got sparring. We had some guests on the mat, plus Eliza from the Juniors was selling some home baked treats.

We counted quite a few shirt buttons on the mats afterwards, so well done to everyone who managed to keep theirs!

Keanu Reeves was trained by none other than some of the most accomplished Jiu Jitsu fighters ever- the Machados- for his role in John Wick. Real Jiu Jitsu in action!
The Totals
From Eliza's bake sale, plus the pyjama day, plus the Kyuzo contribution, plus the GoFundMe account we set up, we are pleased to announce that the total for the LauraLynn Foundation this year is...
€2,380
That's going to a tremendous charity that helps terminally ill children and their families.
Thank you all so much for your contributions and for your energy!
