New Stripes in the Gym- Congrats everyone!
In Jiu Jitsu, there are 5 belts.
White- what you get when you first walk in the door.
Blue- after about 2 years of training, this is a sign that you've got the fundamentals
Purple- Given after about 4 years training, dependent on the individual.
Brown- An advanced level belt given around 6 years training.
Black- The average time to Black belt is 8 years or so. Some take longer, some get it slightly quicker, but those are really rare.
And in between these, you get stripes on each belt. You can have up to 4 stripes on your belt, each one a signifier of development.
Congrats to the everyone who got a stripe on Saturday!

Great craic on the mats, and then off for a few drinks and a bit of grub in the sunshine! A great day!
